“There Is Nothing To Do In Toledo”. This is a common phrase that many people in the “Glass City” will say when it comes to activities. Well, last night, Oct 23rd there was plenty of activities for those seeking entertainment outside of their residence. One in particular was “The Session in Collaboration with ThoseFellas, LLC presents The Session’s 1 year Anniversary” held at the Event Center, located on Summit street in downtown Toledo.
This event showcased local and regional talent from the state of Ohio. The headliner was Conya Doss. A Neo-Soul artist from Cleveland who’s most recent album release (Blu Transition) was September 28th. In late August, she released her buzz single “What We Gon Do” to Soultracks as the Free Choice Track Download. It became CD of the Month in September while the single received 4000 digital downloads in one month, setting a new record on Soultracks since Lalah Hathaway in 2008.
Other artist that performed last night were, Elevated Thinkin (Toledo), Matt Reed and TGP (Columbus) who shook the house and shocked a few people as well, Soulhustle (Toledo) who impressed me again last night, Dj Ill Sid (Columbus), Swill Gates (Toledo), AyeDee Gardner (Toledo) and Kendrick Hardaway of Detroit.
All of the performances were great and energy filled. They even made me come home and get in front of the mirror with my comb in hand acting like I can sing. There isn’t any need to worry; I won’t punish the people like that.
Here we go………………….
For those who say “There Is Nothing To Do”, here is a suggestion – get off your ass and participate. Oh, I’m sorry for speaking to you like that, maybe this will be better. When you’re invited to an activity please make a conscious choice to attend the event and have a good time…………… Whatever! Get out!
I challenge all those who feel like there is nothing to do. Contact your friends, 10 to 20 people and as a collective group start going places and doing things together and you will soon see that there are plenty of things to do. Many things you will find out about while you’re out having fun in the first place.
Can we as a community STOP the bashing of Toledo and start being creative in our minds and suggestions as to the kinds of activities we want to see here, is that possible or is it asking too much of you. Like that old saying goes “to the person who says they’re bored and there is nothing to do, look in the mirror and you will see a boring person.
That’s my piece Toledo, speak up and tell me how you feel.

I’m so glad you and your friends came out to support and enjoy yourselves.
Great post John. I had a blast last night. It was good to see everyone having a good time and even better was the quality, mature audience. We appreciate what Thosefellas do for the people in Toledo!

Thanks Dre for being supportive, keep your eyes and ears open for some big things in 2011.
wish I had known about it always looking for something to do in the TOL.
I’ll make an effort to keep you in the loop when we have something going on.
How do I find out about events going on in Toledo such as this? I would have love to have gone to this event had I known about it ahead of time.
Tonya, the event was co-sponsored by a group called ThoseFellas LLC. The member are Kamaron Kyser, Philip E. Cunningham, Philip A. Cunningham, Norris Finley and myself. We’re all on the various social networks, plus there are a couple of web-pages where you can find out about upcoming events: http://thosefellasllc.com & http://glasscityconnect.com
I hope this helps.
