JGS Book Club

The John Glover Speaks Book Club is a collection of books I have or will read. The focus will be on African American facts, figures or history. It will also cover literary works by African American authors, fiction and non fiction.
I invite you to take the journey with me from book to book, share your thoughts and feelings on each book as I give my review of it. I will also provide information on where you can get the book as well.
Reading is important for us and our kids. The desire to always read is rooted in something I was told when I was a kid; “If you don’t want a black person to know or learn something, put it in a book”. This was told to me by my grandmother who was born in 1896. She told me this was a way of keeping information from blacks because in many places black were not allowed to learn to read when she was coming up. Well, those days have passed so let’s read together!
