Black Movies - John Glover Speaks

Classic Black Movies!

In this time and era where we are seeing movie remakes I thought of 3 Black Movies that should get serious consideration for a remake. When you look at the movies out now they have done Hulk several times, now there’s Total Recall.

So come along with me on this ride and leave your comments or views on other movies that should be done that I left out.

New Jack City

This is the classic movie that featured Allen Payne as G Money and Wesley Snipes as Nino Brown, the druglord that ran “The Carter”. The story and The Carter was based off of things that took place in Detroit, MI the Motor City.

In the remake of this classic black movie I would like to see Idris Elba as Nina Brown and Pooch Hall as G Money

What do you think?

Uptown Saturday Night

Uptown Saturday Night - John Glover SpeaksTalk about 2 great actors feeding good off of each other, Bill Cosby as Wardell Franklin and Sidney Poitier as Steve Jackson in this classic. How can you forget Madame Zanobia’s, Silky Slim played by Calvin Lockhart  and Geechie Dan Beauford played by Harry Belafonte. Richard Pryor made a cameo as Sharp Eye Washington. Now if you’re under 30 you may be lost but get hip today.

In the remake I would like to see Anthony Anderson as Wardell Franklin, Lamman Rucker as Steve Jackson, Columbus Short as Silky Slim, Clifton Powell as Geechie Dan and Nick Cannon as Sharp Eye Washington. I Think This would be a great cast and a needed remake. This is 1 black movie I would want to see over and over again.

Share your thoughts.

Claudine

Claudine - John Glover SpeaksThis classic black movie of a mother played by Diane Carrol struggling to do her best for her family of 6, but the “system” or should I say government keeps dipping in her business. James Earl Jones gives a ripping performance as a simple sanitation worker who falls for a beautiful woman…….and her kids. This film never got the credit it should have. I believe this black movie is more fitting today than it was when it was made.

I would love to see a real life couple play these roles. Who, you ask. None other than Nicole Ari Parker and Boris Kodjoe.

What do you think, share your thoughts.
